Retirees who qualify for Medicare early due to disability will not transition to the UHC Post-65 Medicare Supplement plans. These plans, administered by UHC, require participants to be age 65 and older and on Medicare.
Retirees who qualify for Medicare early due to disability will remain on the Aetna Choice POS II Plan, however this plan will be a supplement to Medicare. Participants on Medicare early due to disability must enroll in Medicare A and B in order to have full coverage. Medicare is the primary healthcare coverage for retirees who qualify early due to disability, the Aetna Choice POS II Plan is a secondary payor to Medicare. If you do not enroll in Medicare, the Aetna Choice POS II Plan does not cover claims as primary. The Aetna Choice POS II Plan remains secondary to Medicare.
You must also either call Aetna at 1-800-338-8047 to alert them to your new Medicare status or email employeebenefits@newscorp.com. You must take action with Aetna to adjust your primary insurer.
If you are disabled early, we recommend that you contact Medicare directly with further questions. You can speak to a Medicare representative by calling their official toll-free phone number directly at 1-800-633-4227 (or 1-800-MEDICARE). For people who have hearing or speech impairments the number to call is 1-877-468-2048, also listed as the TTY number.
